Making the case for left unity in Britain

"Left Unity" is an attempt, in Britain, to create a new party of the Left, along analogous lines to the emergence of Syriza in Greece, Die Linke in Germany and the Front de Gauche in France. The aim is to occupy the political space left by the race to the right of the Labour Party over recent decades. It is based on the idea that existing revolutionary parties cannot fill this space alone. The following explanatory article was published in Socialist Worker Review, the monthly journal of the Socialist Workers Party (Britain), the largest revolutionary grouping on the left in Britain.
